Description
The 140cm Phishh Swallowtail Powsurfer is a surf-inspired shape featuring reverse side cut, a long drawn out nose and a tapered swallow tail. This model provides excellent float and an incredibly surfy feel as it makes its turns by displacing the snow rather than cutting like a traditional side cut. We’ve seen this shape copied by many others but poorly done. We’ve been exploring and perfecting reverse sidecut powsurfers since our earliest days and nothing compares to experience when it comes to shaping powsurfers that really work well.
Our 3-Dimensional CDC Base gives the rails the extra bite it takes to make aggressive turns, chuck buckets and weave the tightest trees. It’s a different ride and feel than most “snowboarders” are used to, but once you master the technique this board will become a favorite of your quiver. It’s less suitable for variable snow and thicker coastal snow than many of our other models but in the proper conditions this board straight rips. Don’t let the swallow tail fool you, riding this board forward or backwards is pretty comfortable and consistent. Ideal for light to medium density snow depths from 7″-24″. The Phishh Swallowtail Powsurfer sizes best to riders with US mens boot sizes 9-13, weighing between 140 and 200lbs.
See this board in action in our short film series titled “The Powsurf Chronicles” and of course on our Instagram Page.
McRae Williams –
The Phishh Swallow Tail 140cm – I absolutely love this board. I have messed around with a few different brands, and I can say with confidence that Grassroots has the best construction and shapes on the market. They just feel and ride more like a surfboard versus a lot of the other brands that ride more like a snowboard without bindings. The Phish is a shorter more agile board that requires a bit steeper terrain and deeper snow, but when the conditions are right it’s an all time ride. I’ve always been more into tricky, snappy and powerful surfing in all aspects of the sport, wether on snow, water, or asphalt, so this board was the perfect fit for me when it comes to the snow. The three-dimensional base allows the board to glide high and hold edge nicely while the wood construction keeps it snappy and floaty as a pow surf should be. -McRae
