The Grassroots Safety Belt – Quick-Release Powsurf belt does much more than just keep your pants up. This extremely light weight belt (70 grams) gives you a solid attachment point for your leash with an added layer of safety with its ability to quickly release at the pull of the lead. PLEASE DO NOT OVERLOOK THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS ACCESSORY! In our decades of powsurfing experience we have taken and seen some nasty falls and we’ve experienced our fair share of avalanche activity.
Our Quick-Release “Safety Belt” allows you to quickly release your leash in the event of an avalanche or a really bad fall to avoid becoming tangled in the leash. Even a small avalanche could become a really big problem if the rider was wrapped up in the leash or dragged down into the slide path by the board and leash. The safest thing to do is pull the lead and release your leash entirely. Don’t ever underestimate the power of mother nature and her unpredictability. This multi-purpose belt can also be used to make a splint for a broken bone or a number of other uses when in a pinch.
One size fits all. This belt is fully adjustable for lengths to fit any rider and the length can be cut to the perfect lead to allow you to easily grab the lead to activate the quick release mechanism.
• Cut your Safety Belt to the desired length, the lead should stick out well beneath the bottom of your coat so you can easily grab it when you need to put it to release. Use a lighter to melt the end so that it does not fray after cutting.

Wow this thing is super lightweight and bomber. I hope I never have to use this in an avalanche situation but it certainly gives some peace of mind. Holds my leash and my pants up perfectly.
