October 4th 2009 Powdersurf Session
My dog and I celebrating the first winter snowfall. Bindingless powdersurfing in the snow and weeds in the Northern Utah backcountry.
*** Early season snowboard excursions were the root of our quest to powsurfing. This is when we did the most experimenting because nothing worth strapping in for was filled in.. we were bored and trying to make the simple terrain fun again. These are the roots of Grassroots Powdersurfing! Since the late 90’s we’d been experimenting with riding snowboards without bindings.. obviously they didn’t work well, but we had started cutting them into new shapes and trying to force them to work. When we finally decided to start from scratch and design/build our own creations, that is when things really started to get fun. This fall I really caught the bug because this board worked so much better than any of the modified snowboards we had played with.. it was night and day difference. The fire was lit!
