Description
The Slasher Malibu 166cm Powsurfer is the longest board in our line and it’s an absolute rocket ship. This board rides incredibly fast and is unsinkable in the deepest and lightest pow. A daily driver for the really big guys out there and an awesome quiver piece for nearly any size of rider who likes to rip down the mountain with great stability at extremely high speeds. The Slasher Malibu 166cm powsurfer unlocks super low angle terrain that seemed too “flat” to ride.. an ideal “meadow skipper” if that’s your jam or if you want to charge big mountain lines this board has a comfort zone in the highest speeds you can reach on a powsurfer. The Malibu 166cm is the most recent addition to our “Slasher” model line and while many characteristics remain the same, this model has a softer flex. A powsurfer that is both easy to learn on but can be taken to the extreme when it comes to powsurf progression. A versatile ride than can handle a wide variety of snow depths and densities. We were amazed to see how well the Malibu rode in heavy, wet and shallow spring conditions in even the steeper terrain.
A low profile nose and tail enables great float at lower speeds making it great for lower angle slopes in the deep snow, a great go-to when avalanche danger is keeping you from the steeper slopes. Our CDC 3-Dimensional Base Technology allows you to get as aggressive as possible, arcing precision turns at the highest speeds and of course is a game changer when the snow conditions are shallow or variable. The elongated nose outline puts more of the width and volume under the weight of the rider allowing for better planing and less drag in the tail. This makes for better floatation and in turn better edge to edge performance. We’ve blended a few of the characteristics from traditional snowboard shape outline and sidecut but infused powsurf characteristics that have been rigorously tested in our 17 years of shaping and powsurfing. The 3-D base channels the snow beneath and gives this board even better float and control while contributing to the surf-like feel that we love so much.
The Slasher Malibu 166cm Powsurfer performs best in 5″ or more soft snow and can thrive in up to chest deep light and dry duff. If you are a big rider (200+ lbs) and you ride mostly in shallow or variable conditions there is no need to get a board of this length. Instead we recommend the 140cm or 150cm version of the Slasher or the Barracuda models as they have the best performance in shallow, thick and variable conditions. Shorter boards will always be easier to control in shallow and variable snow, but for it’s length the this 166cm beast can handle surprisingly well when those shallower conditions arise.
